A new electric mobile harbour crane arrived to Eimskip‘s Reykjavík port recently and has been named Bára. The crane is mobile, with a working radius of 54 meters and lifting capacities of up to 125 tons. Bára can service vessels up to 14 containers wide. The crane‘s operator cabin is situated at a height of 29 meters, which gives the crane operator a good view.

Bára is Eimskip‘s 12th crane in current operation and 10th of the make Konecranes Gottwald.

One of Eimskip's biggest sustainability projects is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and the company has set itself an ambitious goal in this regard, zero net emissions in 2040. Now, there are 5 harbour cranes in the Reykjavík harbor area of Sundahöfn; Jakinn, Straumur, Stormur, Alda and Bára, that all run on electricity instead of fossil fuels. Bára‘s arrival increases productivity of the port area, that supports Eimskip‘s ambitions in offering customers excellent service.

Here are a few photos of Bára's arrival in Sundahöfn.
